Have YOU Done a Social Media Audit?
As someone who went from having zero social media accounts to several personal and business ones, I finally learned the importance of conducting a social media audit. This is important whether you own a small business like me or work for a larger company.
So what is a social media audit? A social media audit is when you analyze your social media presence as a whole and pinpoint what your strengths and weaknesses are. They are a great way for you to get a glimpse of the big picture and find ways to strengthen your brand online.
The first thing that needs to be done for an audit is to have a spreadsheet created or some sort of writing tool that helps you stay organized. There will be a lot of information coming your way, and you’ll want to keep track of it effectively.
Next, you should open up all your social media accounts and take note of important information based on the first things you see: the profiles. Does each account have a consistent profile picture, cover image, and bio? That can make a large impact on the cohesiveness of your brand.
Now try taking a look at the posts that have been made on each platform. Analyze the posts that went well (high engagement, conversions, etc.) and how consistently you post on your channel. This can help you improve the content that you make in the future and help you reach your marketing goals. It is in your best interest to avoid taking large gaps of time between posts on each social media platform. Consistency is key to growing your brand and increasing your conversion rate.
One of the most important components of a social media audit is completing a SWOT analysis, which prompts you to consider each platform's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.
Reflecting on the things you do well and what can be improved upon can be difficult to do. It is easy to brag about the good things but more difficult to admit to what has been done poorly. However, it is imperative that we acknowledge our weaknesses and grow from them. That is how progress happens!
I hope this advice helps you in completing your own social media audit. No matter the size of your brand, it is important to analyze how you are being represented on social media.
See you next time,
Evie
